I have been following Susskind’s lectures for a while. I had watched the first two on the standard model in May, but the rest had not appeared – I had been checking. Last night I discovered they were on youtube, but not yet linked to on the main page for Susskind’s lectures.
Links to both are at physics videos.
I think I will re-watch the first two on the standard model before continuing. Then I may re-watch them all – to reinforce my understanding.

June 15th, 2010My heart seemed to be going fast. I thought maybe something was wrong with my blood pressure. I took it with a device that had been my dad’s. (Usually it has seemed to measure mine high.) Anyway it was 145/83 – pulse 63. Also my glucose this morning was 116 after fasting only about 5 hours. I had thought about calling one of my doctors. Instead, I lay down for about an hour and calmed down.

June 11th, 2010I installed maxima today on my linux desktop and under cygwin on my laptop. Just starting to get familiar with it, but it seems to be more suited to me than Maple – also much more affordable – free.

Facts Matter
June 4th, 2010Often it is said that facts are morally indifferent. I think this is untrue. I like the discussion of valuation by C. I. Lewis in An Analysis of Knowledge and Valuation But his discussion is very abstract. More concretely, I like the writings of Erich Fromm.
